Six Rivers to the Sea (SRS) is a
landscape-scale land-conservation approach oriented toward facilitating
the continued vitality of the Northcoast's culture, economy and
ecology. The project is a voluntary grassroots project
that is
collaborative with the greater North Coast community envisioning
conservation between the coast and the Six Rivers National Forest.
SRS is a comprehensive effort, coupling preservation of land using conservation easements with restoration, watershed and habitat improvement projects. Important connectivity is beginning to be realized and these corridors are a mosaic of public lands, conservation easements, conservation planning and restoration projects.
Landowner interest in participating is high. New tracts are waiting to be added into the project as other tracts are completed. As the various tracts are included in the conserved landscape, a network of watershed land - critical to preserving wildlife corridors, wild salmon spawning streams and watershed function - is maintained.
SRS has been fully vetted within the CA and Fed. Forest Legacy Programs; It's California's #1 easement project two years running, and currently ranked 13th in the nation.
SRS is about preserving holistic critical mass. The SRS project is oriented toward facilitating the continued vitality of the North Coast's resouce land ecology, tourism and outdoor recreation, forest and ranching cultures and economies.
